When the World Council of Churches Assembly said in its final statement, “We intend to move together,” it referred not only to its members but to the Catholic Church.
“We are not members of the WCC, but we have a close partnership with a great deal of interaction,” said Bishop Brian Farrell, secretary of the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity.
“We are constantly in communication.
And there are a number of channels in which this collaboration finds expression,” Farrell told Catholic News Service.
Farrell was one of the 25 Vatican delegation members at the Oct. 30-Nov. 8 WCC Assembly in Busan, South Korea.
