Esquire editors laud sharply dressed pope

Best Dressed Man

Eat your heart out, Hollywood!

Fresh on the heels of Time magazine’s announcement of Pope Francis as Person of the Year, another band of editors has crowned the Vicar of Christ with a far more unconventional accolade.

Esquire magazine, before New Year’s Day, named the Pope Best Dressed Man of 2013.

In the Esquire article, the Holy Father’s “mode of dressing really does reflect the mindset behind it,” stated Mark-Evan Blackman, a professor of menswear design at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City.

In an editorial on the Esquire website, the magazine’s editors called Pope Francis “funny, smart, and fearless. He drives a lousy car and won’t wear flashy shoes.”
