St. John Bosco Parish in Edmonton's northeast opened new space for meeting rooms and other activities with a blessing by Archbishop Richard Smith on Dec. 1 (right). Salesian Father Romano Venturelli, parish pastor, assists.
"Community centre is a big word for it. We just added a second floor over the parish hall and call it a community centre," Venturelli told the WCR.
"Until now we had only the hall and often two or three groups would need it at the same time." The new space will allow the parish to develop new activities for parishioners.
Construction of the addition took nearly two years and benefitted greatly from the help of volunteers, including these friends from St. Maria Goretti Parish. "Volunteers did as much of the work as was possible," said Venturelli.
