A new Auxiliary Bishop has been appointed for the Edmonton Archdiocese.

Pope Benedict has appointed Fr. Gregory Bitman as the new Auxiliary for Edmonton.

The Bishop-elect is currently the Chancellor of the Edmonton Archdiocese.

Bishop-elect Bitman was born in Edmonton in 1961 and ordained in 1996.

A date for his episcopal ordination has not been set yet.
