Following are the appointments of priests for the Edmonton Archdiocese. All appointments take effect Aug. 17, unless otherwise indicated:

  • Assumption Parish, Edmonton: Father Paul Kavanagh, pastor
  • Holy Rosary Parish, Edmonton: Father Andrzej Sowa, OMI, pastor (31 Aug. 2011)
  • Our Lady Queen of Poland, Edmonton: Father Roman Majek, OMI, pastor (31 Aug. 2011)

OTHER

  • Father Joby Augustin, CFIC, is appointed chaplain at the University of Alberta Hospital.
  • Father Leonard Cadieux is granted a sabbatical year.
  • Father Oscar Monroy is appointed chaplain of St. Benedict Chapel, downtown Edmonton, and continues as part-time hospital chaplain at the University of Alberta Hospital, with pastoral responsibilities for the Spanish Catholic Community in Red Deer.
  • Father Slawomir Oblak, OMI, is re-assigned to Vancouver by his religious congregation.
  • Father Thomas Puthupparampil is responsible for the Syro-Malankara Catholic Community in the archdiocese.
  • Deacon Miguel Irizar: Assumption Parish, Edmonton; associate master of ceremonies for the archdiocese.

RETIREMENT

  • Father Leonard Gartner, current pastor of Blessed Sacrament Parish, Wainwright, retires from full-time ministry.

END OF TERM

  • Father Tadeusz Jordan, SDS, pastor of St. Maria Goretti Parish, Devon, and attached parishes, concludes his term of service in the Archdiocese.
  • Father Collins Okafor, SMMM, chaplain at St. Benedict Chapel, downtown Edmonton, concludes his term of service in the archdiocese.
